About The Annex

The Annex was Toronto's first wealthy suburb, developed in the 1880s when the city's elite moved north of Bloor. Today it retains its intellectual character, anchored by the University of Toronto campus to the south and a long-standing tradition of writers, academics, and artists calling it home. The housing stock is remarkable — block after block of well-preserved Victorian and Edwardian semis, with the occasional mansion on Spadina Road.

Bloor Street West between Spadina and Bathurst is one of Toronto's best commercial streets: the Fox Theatre, BMV Books, a dozen independent restaurants, and transit access via the Bloor-Danforth subway line. Koreatown begins just west at Christie, giving the area excellent diversity in its food scene. Residents are fiercely attached to their neighbourhood — turnover is low and demand consistently high.
